Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A query entered in a search tool is transmitted to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the terms and supplies its results. Hays County Court Docket does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, the message may be retained long enough to review it and respond. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Technical information is created when a page loads. It can include:
- Page-view dates, times, and duration
- Browser name, version, and operating system
- Device type and assigned IP address
- Pages viewed during the visit
- A referring website, when one is available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. Analytics providers may use them to create aggregate measures of traffic, popular pages, and navigation patterns. Browser controls can block cookies, although some functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
Collected information supports routine operation and measurement of the site.
- Diagnosing errors and maintaining security
- Operating pages and improving load performance
- Routing requests to the selected search partner
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Hays County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of Hays County dockets or personal case information. It publishes reference material about records kept by the Hays County District Clerk, Hays County Clerk, trial courts, lower-court clerks, and re:SearchTX. Visitor data is not assembled into reports about other people, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on content pages. Information submitted to a partner is governed by that company's privacy policy, retention terms, and disclosure practices. Hays County Court Docket does not control those policies. Review them before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Hays County offices, Texas courts, re:SearchTX, legal resources, or commercial search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy rules apply. Read those rules before providing personal details.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites. That processing occurs on their systems and under their policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Service providers that host or maintain site functions
- Analytics services measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners receiving a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks delivering ads
- Government authorities when valid legal process requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect information handled by the site. No system connected to the internet can guarantee complete security, so an unauthorized event can never be ruled out entirely.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults, and personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18. Information identified as having been submitted by a minor will be removed when required.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with residence and applicable law. The Texas Public Information Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 552, concerns access to covered government records rather than visitor data held by this private site. Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 separately governs covered judicial records. Those laws do not create an unsupported promise about private-site data. Subject to applicable law, a person may:
- Request access to personal data held about them
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion when the law allows it
- Object to or opt out of certain processing where applicable
Updates to This Policy
